VBT# Not Quite Dead - Lyla Payne

Review: Not Quite Dead - Book #1 A LowCountry Ghost Story - Lyla Payne - April 2014

Years ago Grace and her cousin and best friend Amelia had a major fallout and they went their separate ways. Grace met and got engaged to a Professor David but all is lost when she finds him bonking a student on his desk. Grace's Grandad is sick also , so she sees this as an opportunity to head back home and help look after him. Things start to get a bit weird and creepy though when it is discovered that someone or something is haunting Grace and it turns out to be the old town legend of Anne Bonny the Pirate who supposedly died over 250 years ago. It seems that she wants Grace's help in something, but when things start to turn deadly - she doesn't know who she can turn to without sounding crazy as what is she supposed to say "Hello, A ghost is haunting me and I might wind up dead" ? It turns out that the ghost is in fact related to Grace's family and that for centuries -the reason her family has miscarriages and no boys is due to the fact that they were cursed centuries ago and now Amelia is pregnant with a boy and can break the curse forever. The thing is though that Amelia has an abusive husband whom has banned Amelia from seeing Grace. What will it take for the two of them to get back together and fight not only the evil -they can't see but the evil around them before one of them or both of them end up six feet under ?
Find out in "Not Quite Dead" by Lyla Payne. A great book to read if you love reading the Southern Gothic stories and along the lines of Beautiful Creatures and Byronic.
