Review: Olivia Twisted - Vivi Barnes - November 2013

Are you a fan of modern renditions ? Love reading classic tales set in the modern world ? Based on Charles Dicken's classic novel "Oliver Twist" comes from Entangled Publishing author Vivi Barnes "Olivia Twisted". As soon as I saw that this was available , I knew I had to read it as one of my favourite things to read are books based on other books e.g classics and fairytales. Olivia Twisted takes us into the world of Olivia who has been shuffled from foster home to foster home and is starting in a new one which seems good but as the novel gets further along , we can see it taking a very dodgy turn for Olivia. It is at the high school that she meets new friends Samantha aka Sam and Z. They too are foster kids and live with a guy named Bill Sykes and Nancy . Bill Sykes runs a money scamming and computer hacking business and Olivia is recruited into the lifestyle. However this story has a twist which reminded me of the classic children's book "A Little Princess" as it turns out that she in fact has a surviving relative that she didn't realise she had.
This was a fun and easy read and is the perfect book for those who love renditions of Charles Dicken's novels.
