Review: Gold Trap - Lily Maytree - September 2011
Meg Jennings was sick and tired of her boring life as a Schoolteacher, she decided that she wanted to do something different in her life. Reading a book about an 1800-s female explorer by the name of Mary Kingsley spurred her to do something exciting, adventurous, different. Being strapped for cash, Meg chooses a cheap tour pack visiting Africa and learning about "Voodoo". Deciding to take her journey one more step to adventurous, she dons an outfit that would have been worn in Mary Kingsley's days. She decides to whilst a stopover in Paris, observe passerby reactions to her outfit. Reading this part, I was able to understand as I am a huge believer in dress-ups and my job enables me to do wacky things like wear my PJs to work, dress up in a santa's outfit, dress up to the nines for the Royal Wedding. I love it and you always wonder what exactly goes on in the minds of some customers.  On the plane trip to Africa though, Meg will soon encounter the journey of a lifetime , a journey that will find her pretending she's married, a case of mistaken identity, jailed , questioned , a fight to save her life . Is this the journey she was looking for and we soon discover that this may be the divine appointment God was holding for Meg. As the results of the trip and what's she goes through , may very well hold the key to her future.
A at times confusing read , but other than that it is a fast-paced and interesting read and as someone who is planning to take the adventure of a lifetime in 2013, something different, adventurous. I loved it :)
