Review: Divergent - Veronica Roth

Today's novel is a new dystopian novel on the shelves and at first I was in two minds about reading it as once you've read a few of these novels , they can go both ways and either go really well or horribly bad. Once I got started , I was hooked and could not put it down.

Review: Divergent- Veronica Roth- May 2011
Have you ever thought about what it may be like not to fit in with your families views ? What would happen if you took an entirely different track in life ? In this dystopian world of Chicago , everybody is split into five groups - four of those are known as Factions and each live by their own code of rules and conduct and the last group is the one everyone fears of ending up - faction-less , these are the outcasts , the nobodies of society. In this society, when you turn sixteen - you are to take an aptitude test which will or in this case should establish which faction you are more suited too and should realistically finish your life's journey in.  Beatrice and her brother Caleb have been brought up as Abnegation - who follow the faction of being selfless . They dress in gray clothes and are plain, they do everything to be wallflowers and not stand out. Beatrice wishes for a life more exciting as she stares out at the Dauntless - the brave and courageous ones. On the day of testing though, Beatrice recieves the results that she is what they call Divergent - one who portrays all the traits of each faction , they are the ones that can go between and they also are the ones that could bring down the walls of the Factions. On the day of choosing , Beatrice chooses Dauntless and sets out to become one of them - first thing on the agenda is changing her name to Tris. As the novel forwards on we see Tris and Four - one of the Dauntless Leaders becoming closer and closer and Tris's Divergent side starts to shine through. Can Four help Tris conceal it as the factions are working together to help kill Divergents . When the truth is revealed about Four, Tris and her Parents , can they overcome the obstacles and try to overthrow the Faction Elders or will they be KIA and Tris/Four be taken to the Pit ?
Find out in this awesome new Dystopian novel that I believe everybody should read as once you get started you definitely won't be able to put down.
