Review : The Hanging Wood - Martin Edwards

Whenever I see books that are set in the Lakes District , I'm always tempted to read them . Thinking about this brings me back to a question that author Lisa Heidke was writing about - Does the setting of the book influence whether you read it or not ? I think in some cases it does, unless it is one of your favourite authors and you will read anything that they write regardless of where it is set , but if it is an unknown author - then a lot of it can ride on whether you enjoy the settings as for me personally I love hearing about the Lakes District - more so because it was where Beatrix Potter originated from and the pictures of it on the film Miss Potter were adorable and beautiful scenery.
Today's mystery book "The Hanging Wood" is part of a series called "The Lake District Mysteries" and was provided as a review copy from Netgalley www.netgalley.com

The Hanging Wood (Lake District Mysteries)

Review: The Hanging Wood - The Lake District Mysteries - Martin Edwards - April 2011

Twenty years ago , Orla's family fell apart - first her mother and her father separated , then her brother Callum disappeared without a trace and her uncle committed suicide in what is now nicknamed The Hanging Woods. It was said that Orla's Uncle had something to do with it, but Orla knew better. As we all know things happened in threes. Now Twenty years later , Orla is back in the Lakes District and wants her brother's cold case re-opened , she just knows that the person responsible is still at large and needs the justice he deserves -to be put away for life. Contacting a friend Daniel King , he refers her to a Detective Hannah . Now Hannah and Daniel have shared history, which on Hannah's part has caused argument between Hannah and her partner Marc. When Orla's call goes unheard , we read the next morning that she is found dead , suffocated to death - was this a suicide or part of something deeper as it just doesn't make sense that someone wanting justice so much would kill herself.
The death of Orla propels Hannah to working on the Cold Case and she must enlist Daniel's help if she is to solve and find out the truth of what happened to Callum and now Orla ?
But be careful Hannah, as remember in the Hinds family Death comes in threes.
